Desperate For a Job

imagesI keep reading these stories about the things people are doing to get a job during the recession. Apparently, right now in the US there are 5 applicants for every job opening, that doesn’t sound like a lot to me but I guess if you’re t trying to get a job as a “barista” at Starbucks and they tell you that there are four other people vying for the job, that pretty much sucks. The best story I’ve heard so far is someone sending their resume attached to a shoe to a hiring manager with a note saying “Trying to get my shoe in the door.” I really wonder if those kind of crazy antics actually work. I’m pretty sure if I was that hiring manager I would throw the shoe in the garbage and hire someone I thought wasn’t crazy or desperate. Can you imagine that person sitting at home thinking “I’ve got it! I’m going to mail them a shoe! This is a great idea!” And their poor wife is siting there drawing up the divorce papers. Then there’s the chick in San Francisco who walked around with the sign “Hire My Husband”, I don’t know about you but all I was thinking was where the fuck is the husband? He was probably sitting on the couch with a six-pack watching Charm School while his wife pimped him out. And now that I think of it, why wasn’t she working or trying to get herself a job? Women..
