Book Recommendations

imagesI started playing a new game that I find very entertaining and I want you all to try out. Ask people who know you in different ways (co-workers, drinking buddies, your dealer etc.) to recommend a book you should read. I’ve been tearing through books lately and began asking acquaintances whom I trusted may have some literary prowess to recommend a book I would like. Boy, was that an eye-opening experience. I’ve decided that there is no better way to find out what people really think about you, your intelligence, sense of humor and mental stability. The first book came highly recommended by “Lisa” as something I would “love”,  totally reminded her of me. It was some shit called “Bitter is the New Black” and is essentially “chick lit” which offended me the most, do I seem like a girl who reads chick lit? Lets just say that me and “Lisa” are no longer friends, below I’ve included an excerpt of the e-mail I sent her after I finished the book. But don’t let this deter you from conducting the experiment yourself, don’t you want to know if your “friends” are going to recommend that you read He’s Just Not That Into You or American Psycho, you can really learn a lot.

As a trusted friend, when you recommended a book that I should read I thought “hey, Lisa knows me pretty well, she has a good sense of humor, I should check this out.” Books that people recommend to you say a lot about what that person thinks of you and for that reason I am writing this email because you clearly know nothing about me and as a result our friendship hangs in the balance.
