I’ve discovered a new technique for scoring free drinks that I want to share and I swear I didn’t do it on purpose, I stumbled upon it completely accidentally. Make plans to meet up with friends but plan to get there after they have all been drinking for a while. Once you know that they’re pretty sauced up, call them and tell them you don’t think you’re going to go out — the reason why can vary — you’re too tired, it’s too far and the most foolproof – “I can’t afford to spend any money on boozing and partying”. If you happen to be as fun and awesome as I am, your friends won’t be able to bare the thought of you not coming out for the night so the offers will start pouring in — “Just come! We’ll pay for all your drinks, just get here now!” To make it believable you have to resist for the first few minutes — “No, I couldn’t possibly, thanks for the offer, you’re so sweet” At this point your friends will be begging you to come out, they’ll be offering to pay for your cab, all your drinks and give you $50 on top of it just for being awesome. Try it out, let me know how it goes. If it doesn’t work for you, you’re clearly not that fun to hang out with, sorry.
